About me

My name is Mulluken. I hold a BSc in Informatics (Great distinction) from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia and MSc in computing, Data Science focus (First Class Honours) from Institute of Technology Blanchardstown, Ireland. I also hold a Masters degree in Information Systems development from HAN University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands. I also have different certifications including MCTS, MCSA and Certified Data Scientist using R, SAS and Excel. I am trained in Microsoft BI tools (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), sharepoint; SAP Business Objects; Programming tools including Java, Php and C#; Database including MSSQL, Oracle and MySQL; Analytics tools including R, RapidMiner, Excel and SQL.

I started my professional career as an Ass. Lecturer and Software Developer. I then joined the industry as a technical application consultant. However, I spent much of my professional career so far in BI and Analytics areas. My interest is to give meaning to data by applying from simple to complex methods in order to help Business make the right decisions. I am passionate about advanced predictive analytics and techniques developed in order to use data for the betterment of decision making. But more importantly, I believe in solving the challenges at hand using available tools and techniques creatively.

In this blog, I decided to write the problems I face day to day and the solutions I used to solve them; or the things that impress me; and the experiences that I think are useful to share. As such, this blog reflects what I do every day and does not focus on specific technology or business area, as I use different technologies and techniques to solve challenges from different areas. I believe in sharing knowledge. But also, I think this is a good way of documenting my works :).
